SFM Community Football Game

The object of this game is to pick more weekly winners than your opponent.

Each week you will pick 7 teams that you think will win their scheduled game and how many points they will score. Points will be used as a tiebreaker when both teams pick the same teams to win.

Picks will be due each week by midnight Friday, except for the weeks when they play on Thursdays. Those weeks, the picks will be due by midnight Tuesday. Email reminders will be sent out each week. If picks are not sent in, the previous weeks picks will be used.

Scoring will be as follows: 2 pts for a win & 1 pt for a tie match. You will also get 1 point for each correct pick that you have more of than your opponent. Standings will be determined by win pct., then wins, then point total, then correct picks.

An example of a weekly contest would be like this:

Team 1 picks 7 teams with how many points they will score: NY Giants –24, NY Jets –35, New England –45, Seattle –27, Pittsburgh -21,  New Orleans –27, Baltimore –48

Team 2 picks 7 teams and how many points they will score: Buffalo –35, Miami –27, NY Jets –24, Tampa Bay –48, Baltimore –44, New England –45,  Cleveland –28

Say the following teams win their game: Buffalo, New England, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh & NY Giants. That would mean that Team 1 had 3 correct picks and Team 2 had 3 correct picks, but they both had picked New England, & Baltimore, which also won. For this reason, we will go to the points scored to see who gets credit for the correct pick. The final score had New England with 45 pts and Baltimore with 54. Because both players had a guess of 45, no one gets credit for that pick, but Team 1 would get credit for picking Baltimore, because his guess was the closest to the actual point total. So the final score would be Team 1 – 4cps and Team 2 - 3cps, which would mean Team 1 wins the match. Team 1 would get a total of 3pts. (2 pts for the win and 1 pt for having 1 more correct pick than his opponent).

League Setup

League set up will be based on 24 teams. 2 Conferences, with 3 Divisions of 4 teams each. The season will run Week 1 through Week 13. Playoffs will start Week 14  with the League Championship Week 17. Teams to be determined later. There will be 12 teams in the playoffs, 6 from each conference. Each division winner will automatically make the playoffs with 3 wildcard spots for each conference, those being the 3 top teams that don’t win their division. The top 2 division winners from each conference will get a bye in week 1 of the playoffs.
